Staris
Total Context Product Security
Today’s application security leaders are getting womped on. While AI has massively expanded how much software teams can create, AppSec still hasn’t evolved to match this unprecedented amount of code. Legacy security tools flood teams with alerts, without the context to show what actually matters, or what to do next. It’s chaos.
Staris’s AI-powered AppSec platform was built to fix this. Working closely with the Staris founding team, Gold Front created a new category strategy, brand, and website that positions Staris as the pioneer behind a new era in application security.
When Staris came to us, they had something truly different: an AI-powered AppSec platform that didn't just find vulnerabilities - it also fixed them, and showed the data to prove it. But the market didn't have a name for what they were doing, and their story wasn't yet sharp enough to cut through a crowded, noisy category. They needed a new strategic narrative and brand to unite their team, focus their go-to-market, and disrupt this crowded space.
We started by naming the enemy. Today's AppSec tools were built for a world before AI - scanning code like a metal detector at the beach, generating hundreds of alerts with no sense of what actually mattered or why. We called this problem the Context Black Hole: security tools that find problems without knowing what you're building or why it matters. The result? 95% of findings go unfixed.
With the enemy named, we went on to define their category. We called it Total Context Product Security - Staris's novel approach to AppSec. Their product ingests source code, API docs, compliance frameworks, and configurations to build a holistic understanding of your business, your app, and your data. This context doesn't just surface the right threats. It fixes them automatically, and proves every fix is real. “Find it. Fix it. Prove it. Scale it.” became the pillars that made up the backbone of their strategy and messaging.
With the strategy in place, we moved into brand design. Keying off their futuristic name and the bold vision behind it, we placed the brand squarely in the future. Otherworldly AI imagery. Deep purples and magentas inspired by solar flares and celestial bodies. Sweeping gradients that suggest total coverage. And a wordmark where the star isn't a separate icon - it's negative space cut directly out of the letters.
From there, we carried the strategy and brand into messaging - from the website to hero headlines to ad applications. Every line was written to speak directly to a Director of Application Security: the person caught between executive pressure to "be more secure" and developer pressure to "stop slowing us down." We gave them a new way to see themselves - not as a cost center, but as the team that ships code with confidence.
Altogether, the new category, brand, and messaging position Staris as the company bringing the context revolution to application security.
